Before leaving, they worked with our team on a mini grant that helped them furnish their new apartment.Īround the same time, Gabriella* and her 2 children moved in. By July of 2019, they had found and moved into their own apartment. Soon after the Aldridges arrived, the James* family moved in. They are now with family who supports them as they continue to grow. We worked with them to strengthen their familial relationship every step of the way, and with our team’s support they saved enough money to move. They began working with the Office of Children’s Services to regain custody of their two boys before giving birth to their third child. In March of 2019, the Aldridges* came to Safe Harbor Muldoon. During John’s stay, he accessed programs with skilled nursing services for his four-year-old, six days a week. John *, a father of a 16-year-old and four-year-old with special needs, applied for Safe Harbor Muldoon, the only transitional housing facility in Anchorage that accepts men with children. Our families come from all walks of life and develop life-long friendships with our staff members: We help increase our residents’ stability, allowing them to work toward obtaining a permanent home within six months of entry.

In 2014, the Rural Alaska Community Action Program (RurAL CAP) bought Safe Harbor Muldoon, a housing facility, in order to support families currently experiencing or facing imminent homelessness with everything from housing to child care and employment assistance.
